Boadi Drops the Visuals to the Beautiful “AwoMaa”

Dec 20 2017 BY Gerald Onyango
For over a year now we’ve been had the pleasure of following the mesmerising sounds of Boadi (pronounced bwer-dee). The South-London vocalist dropped the for visuals today to his beautiful song “AwoMaa” (Mother), taken off his second EP AwoMaa. Released earlier this year, his sophomore EP AwoMaa’ (‘Awo’ being his Grandmothers name ‘Maa’ translating to child in the Ghanaian dialect Twi. Altogether meaning ‘my grandma’s child’) is a genuine and conscious reflection on experiences of love, relationships and family. An exciting combination of smooth, soulful vocals with jazz undertones. On a more personal level, it also pays homage to the women who raised him. Boadi’s easily one of my favourite artists of this year and his track “Only You” was also featured in our best deep cuts of 2017 playlist . We can’t wait to hear more from Boadi in 2018, but in the meantime, check out his new video for “AwoMaa” below.
