Nike release new Eco-friendly ‘FlyLeather’ Material

40% lighter, 5x more durable, using 50% recycled leather fibres and 80% lower carbon footprint! Nike’s recent innovation of the super-material ‘FlyLeather’ has potential game-changing a qualities, while looking after the environment. Using it’s market leading platform, Nike are leading the way in creating breakthrough products stating the FlyLeather is an “important step toward ensuring athletes always have a place to enjoy sport”. However, sneaker enthusiast have a expressed there uncertainty about the quality of the synthetic materials being used on classic silhouettes.

Initial pictures display a variety of silhouettes including an Air Force 1, Air Max 90, Cortez, Jordan 1 and Tennis classic wearing the next generation FlyLeather. Nike claim the innovative material has the look and feel as quality leather used previously by Nike. Furthermore, stating that Flyleather can do for leather, what FlyKnit did for knit.
