Take a step into the hip hop time machine: the year is 2008; the loose T-shirt & bootcut jeans combo are undefeated, T-Pain drops Thr33 Ringz and Lil Wayne gives us the now classic Tha Carter 3 and both respective artists are at the top of their game. Of course, being the giants in their respective genres – and also being past collaborators – led to there being rumours of the two doing a joint project just like Jay Z and R. Kelly did with Best of Both Worlds back in 2002.
Given that the conversation of the potential collaborative album has lived for nearly a decade, fans, including ourselves, had given up hope of the mega project happening. Alas, it’s here now as T-Pain randomly found a hard drive with their collabs from way back when and decided to drop the long-awaited T-Wayne album! As the tracks are from nearly a decade ago, the production on the tape come from the likes of Tha Bizness and Bangladesh (do you remember those guys?) and lyric references are from the late 2000s. So as you can imagine the nostalgia is heavy, welcome back to 2008 everyone!
