Things to Watch on Netflix – July

Jul 2 2017 BY Gerald Onyango

We millennials are an interesting generation, we’ve lived through arguably what can be deemed as the quickest technological advancement that modern history has seen. But similarly, while we have seen this advancement we remember simpler times of corded phones, dial-up internet and even TV-sets! The latter is most pressing as we’re a generation who now consumes television through their laptop and one innovation that’s pushed this is Netflix. The streaming website is fixed our today’s culture and the popular platform is always constantly updating its content and us at Bespoke are going to shed some light on the best things to watch on Netflix right now.

Friends from College

A group of friends who all attended Harvard reunite as they enter their 40s. The six friends’ success varies despite them all being alumni from the world’s best university. This new Netflix original has comedy, infidelity, friendship and more – a real easy watch from the many series we now watch where you have to concentrate. The series is set to hit Netflix on July 14th.

Castlevania

Based on the classic Nintendo game, Castlevania is brought to life again via its new animated series. The series which follows the last surviving member of a disgraced clan fights to save Eastern Europe from Dracula. I mean we all love more anime, don’t we!

The Incredible Jessica James

Another Netflix Sundance purchase, Jim Strouse’s astonishing, uplifting comedy follows a struggling New York City playwright, who burned by a bad breakup, makes an unlikely connection with a divorced app designer (Chris O’Dowd) she meets on a blind date. Make sure you tune into this show on July 28th.

The Illusionist

Easily one of my most favourite films of all time, The Illusionist is finally coming to Netflix. The film’s essentially about a magician from Vienna who uses his magic to secure the love of a woman far above his social standing. This is a great Saturday evening-esque film to watch and is coming to Netflix on July 15th.

Last Chance U

Netflix’s gripping sports documentary series returns on July 21st. Buddy, Brittany and a group of new and returning EMCC players begin a new season while coping with the publicity Season 1 brought to the team.
